Randall cabs

Talk about the rest of the rig - amps, effects, valves, leads, wireless set-ups, racks, anything that brings out the best in your axes.

Randall cabs

Post by thedoctor2156 » Fri Jun 13, 2014 11:10 am

Anyone know what the ra412xlt- v30 or the rs412 kh- g12h 100 cabs are like in terms of build quality and tone. I currently have a krank cab so anything would probably be an improvement and can get either for a good price. Also which would you go for metal rythem and a little bit of lead. I have a engl fireball version 2. Thanks in advance as info on these cabs( the kh more so) seems to be very hard to come by.

If its got good speakers I'm sure it'll be fine. I had a Randall 4x12 that I didn't like much but I think mostly cause the speakers were Seventy 80s and I don't think they're very good (imo anyway). I was using an ENGL Powerball at the time! Build quality on the cab was fine though, solid as a rock. Not quite as heavy as the ENGL 4x12 I have now but I don't think it seemed bad in any way.

I'd go with the V30s but I'm definitely no expert on speakers. I have minimal experience with them.

I don't know what model it is but I have a Randall 412 with V30's that I bought from Shane several years ago. Cost about $1000 from memory and it's still going strong. Granted I haven't gigged it but sound and quality wise its solid.

But just remember Gav had to get a left handed cab so the sound equalization from left handed ears to right handed ears may gives us folk a different sound if we were to use if
