Digitech Death Metal Distortion as a High-Gain Preamp??

Talk about the rest of the rig - amps, effects, valves, leads, wireless set-ups, racks, anything that brings out the best in your axes.

Digitech Death Metal Distortion as a High-Gain Preamp??

Post by DwangTwang » Fri Oct 12, 2012 8:41 pm

Hey guyz,

Long Time no speak :D

I get a lot of random emails thru the site, facebook and youtube asking if its possible to get AXE FX / Kemper-esque Tones without the $$$ needed for the gear. Short answer, I guess, is NO - BUT - Its still a lot of fun to mess around and try to get weird/cheap stuff sounding good.

So, with that in mind - I got my MXR GT-OD and ran it into a DIGITECH Death Metal Distortion pedal then straight into my new QSC power amp to see what would happen - I used a Shure SM57 and a Sennheiser e906 to mic the Celestion Vintage 30's in my Blackstar 4x12" cab

The overdrive is turned WAY down - its cutting the signal going into the Death Metal Distortion to back off some of the preset gain. The color of the GT-OD helps tighten up the pedal a lot too.

Anyways, Heres the video -

Cheers guys -

Your scripts aren't loading el-shano! :smt087

Nice video as always Dan! Always thought the Death Metal pedal seemed like a good choice for the price.
