Did a quick A/B on these two. The Truckster being Mahogany body/ set neck and HetSet and the Ouija being Maple neck through with Alder wings and a 81/60 combo.
The Het Set seems to have more crunch. Sounds awesome. Real bite.
Seems to me, remember this is only after a couple of decent plays, that the Het Set partially bridges the active - passive gap. Partially. They just seem to have that bit of growl that the 81/60 doesn't. They sound better (just) through the Sans Amp GT2 than the 81/60. (My EC -400 VF full thickness with the JB/59 set sounds best through that baby!) have a pretty good "Detroit" or "Shock Me" but they are awesome though the Full Bore Metal (Sad But True or Tollz). They sound really nice clean, not as "crisp" as the 81/60 but definitely nice. Bit of Chorus and they nail "One" or "Sanitarium".
The Ouija's 81/60 is a bit brighter, not overly but noticeable, but you can tell. They have that sparkly clean tone, and sound awesome through the Full Bore Metal for that Lightning, Puppets or Black Album sound, but the Het Set just has something different, not necessarily better, just different.
It could be the woods, construction etc, but there is enough difference to justify the two. 8-)
This is just first impression.
The back of neck seems flatter on the Truckster, thinner than the EC-400 (Obviously  ).
Very happy with the new Truckster!!
Still very happy with the Ouija!!
Used a Morpheous Drop Tune MXR Full Bore Metal and Sans Amp GT2 into my Laney 300 Twin.

Hey nice ab, i dont think u can go past the jb/59 set in a mahogany body, it is just sublime.

Personally i like the 81 in the bridge and a 85 in the neck, love the 85 for cleans, i will have to try the 85 in the bridge one day.

glad u happy with the truckster, like the tallica family shots too.

I want one of these, give it to me!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the A/B, Scott. I did wonder about the kind of 'tallica tones you can get out of these two. Very curious to try out the Het Set now.
