NGD: ESP LTD JK-1 (Jeff Kendrick Signature)

This is about a month or so belated, way too busy actually playing the guitar to be honest :)

Anyway, I hadn't been playing guitar for about a year or so. I took up producing electronic music in the meantime.. something totally out of my comfort zone since not only am I new to production but I'm also new to the electronic music genre in general. It's been extremely rewarding though, definitely planning to get back into it after uni dies down. Meanwhile, I bought my first guitar in very long, and hadn't been excited about a guitar in ages. Got it setup very nicely from Shane in Drop C, then decided to drop it to C standard for some AE old times. Still feels great though.

The EMGs were replaced with a SPH90 in the neck and a SH-16 in the bridge (at Shane's advice). P90 tones are actually my favourite and the Phat Cat does it well. I've tried so many bridge humbuckers it's not funny, and I realised why I was never fully content with the ones I tried.. the output was apparently too high for me. I was opting for a SH-1 for a change in the weather but the SH-16 was probably the better choice!

The guitar itself is outstanding quality to be honest, LTDs are apparently pretty serious guitars. I haven't found anything wrong with it, construction-wise. It looks fantastic IMO, and the carved heel is actually the best. I don't understand why ESP simply doesn't implement the Sugizo-type heel for standard production Eclipses? And even the MA series; it astounds me as to why they are opting for a primitive heel that feels so much worse at the higher frets. I don't know, might just be me!

Anyway, only iPhone pics for now. I don't even have a camera but my sister does.. might as well grab it off her some time for some photos that don't suck.

Hey mate, congrats on the new axe!

Love the Kendrick model. They basically fixed all the things I didn't like about Les Pauls..... e.g. scale, construction etc.

Always loved the look of that guitar. Both refined/classy and incredibly awesome too.
