What is the difference between STD and CS ESPs?

Post by William810 » Tue Apr 03, 2012 10:35 am

Hi guys, sorry my question delayed, but I need to know the difference between the ESP Pink Sawtooth CS Vs ESP Pink Sawtooth STD.A price difference is very great, and I live in Brazil, import taxes are very high here, so I would know the difference between two.Thanks.Sorry for any error, it is because I'm using Google Translator.

Custom Shop is all hand built selecting the best of materials to work with each other, and generally built by one builder from start to finish (excepting paint). STD series makes use of more hands and some pre-produced components when possible.

There is a difference in feel and sustain etc., but very subtle, and only perceivable if youve played many standards and customs. Brazil yes. Arrowhead have only in custom at the moment

You can declare a lower value to a customer does not pay too much tax?

Hey Shane,

While we're at it, I was wondering if there were other differences in terms of colors.
I remember reading somewhere that the white for the Scythe model wasn't the exact same on Edwards/STD and CS versions.

Do you know if such a statement is true as far as the white is concerned on the Scythe and the pink on the Pink Sawtooth ?
And also are there any differences (still in terms of colors) between the Blacky STD and the CS ?

It might just be a slight difference but only someone who has seen both versions can tell I guess, and pictures can't help.

Hey mate,
True it is the whites are different between the two, more WHITE on the SS and more subtle sort of hue on the CS, if that makes any sense. I don't recall any differences in the pink between the CS and SS, but maybe ever so slightly different appearance due to the clear coat and how carefully it is applied on CS.
I have a CS Pink Sawtooth here but not an SS to compare those.
Blacky no real colour difference from memory.

Thank you very much :)

I would have though that ESP would make a cheaper finish on the ESP STD and Edwards Blacky, maybe a mat black without the sparkling finish kind of thing.
But it's nice to know they treat their models equally (expect for the buildind quality of course).

Shane,

Sorry to bump up and old thread, but are the Standard Series ESPs made in the Japanese facilities, albeit on a much more mass produced scale? I hear rumors that the Standards are made the same way as the Edwards models and are first made in China then shipped to Japan.

I don't know what's going to go on in the future. There has been some talk of initial woodworking being done at their Chinese facility in very recent times and finishing off in Japan, but I have no word on that in any official capacity.
