i found that when i was first learning how to do them that really diggin into the string helped me and now i have no problems getting them when i want them also id suggest having less of the pic exposed and more flesh hitting the string, its really a hard thing to try and explain how to do hope that helps dude.
Gotta love that satisfaction you get from playing a Jackson.

Yeah, listen to Ben, his pinches are epic. I'm not as good, but I don't have a problem getting them either. The trick is to be rough with the pick and simultaneously gentle with the thumb, and to pick in the right place along the string (depending on which fret you're fingering).

If I'm understanding you correctly, it sounds like you might have your hand too far forward (toward the neck). I play with my palm resting on the strings right near the bridge, and most of the time I'm picking at the spot around the bridge end of the neck humbucker.

I could never pull of pinches when I needed to either, but I just kept at it and eventually found a way that works great for me. I'm pretty sure its quite different to how other people do it, but Fike's advice of picking hard yet gently using your thumb (or whatever else works) is spot on.

:? yer i usually pick around my middle coil but when i palm mute i pick more near the bridge pickup. mind you i arch my arm across my guitar (im a right hand so right arm goes right to left) and the closest to the neck i go is just behind (bridge way) the middle pickup. is this a problem?

It depends which fret you're fretting, but try picking different spots, as you might just be missing the nodes.

bottom string (high e) for around 15-22fret i pick between bridge and middle pick up. 1-13 fret i pick just above the bridge pickup. hope that helps

also, try angling your pick attack so you're using more the long edge of the pick than the point.
and allow your thumb to gently hit the string straight after the pick.... it's the only way I can describe it.

I'll see if I can make some crappy vid of it tonight.

Don't do them.
Zakk Wylde has ruined pinch harmonics for at least another two generations of guitarists ;)
