I don't think it takes months for an economic change to show as per your statement on the 90c exchange rate*... just look at the recent price RISE (notice it doesn't say drop?) given by LSO's based on the global economy? They're never that quick to drop the price though, so I guess your comment was still valid. I still think BMusic is definitely one of the 'good guys' out there which is why I decided to join the forum in the first place. That and it's proving quite the source of information (and lols *cough* Shamalama Ding Dong *cough*).

Not a very positive first post but I like to make my entrances :-)

Cheers.

Welcome, and yes, written near four years ago now. Should be noted that some wholesalers ran at a break even or loss for some time before moving on price, therefore effectively balanbcing any extraordinary gains they might have made in the "good times"

From my perspective it is better to buy local most times espcially buying new (used is on the other hand a different story, some beat to shit stuff and not reliced in a good way goes for ridiculous prices on ebay) however you are protected by laws in the unlikely event something goes pear shaped you have some protection you're pretty much up shit creek ordering internationally. Plus the language barrier makes it ulcer inducing at times (wanted a mosrite mkII from Japan) and the aggravation isn't worth it at times. Factoring in shipping, currency conversion fees, exchange rates, tax etc etc it's not like you're sasving a hell of a lot if any at all. Hell I've just paid for my fernandes Revolver Pro 81 and it actually works out a hell of a lot cheaper having bought it from bmusic (lists at $979 on bmusic, lists for $699USD or $1k aud which brings it into customs tax territory AFAIK so add at least 10% and throw in another $150 USD for shipping) Same with another bmusic Hagstrom Super Swede $1099 at bmusic but lists at $632USD(under$1k so no customs tax AFAIK) and $150USD shipping-break even there. At the high end - bmusic Parker Nitefly mojo bmusic=$3049 US list price $2249USD($3217AUD). Now I'm not sucking up to guys at bmusic just to get better deals but it's pretty much the same story across the board in most Aus retailers. I used these three as they're guitar I'm buying, intersted in or planning to buy as well as they're the only guys I know of that stock Parkers, Hagstroms and Fernandes. Maybe the other stuff you guys are looking at are bit diffrent but I sat here and I've thought about importing a few things and in my case it really isn't worth it

(Us retail pricing take from musiciansfriend as of 06/04/2009, exchange rates from travelex.com.au as of 06/04/09)

The exchange rate listed on travelex might be the cash rate but there is a good chance the rate you get with your credit card will be worse, and if you use paypal it WILL be worse.

You have lovely land and surroundings and are a million miles from Sydney which you should be proud of! You are also away from all the freaks of Melbourne and the tanned lizards of Queensland so be proud Perth!
Discliamer: I am not calling everyone from these places these name so please dont attack! It is a generalisation supported by the labour party canberra and spoken by some dude that should have been a racecaller...barleys :)
