No I didn't.

I've long been a Nightwish fan, basically the first "heavy" band I got into - along with Disturbed!
I think Nightwish were more interesting/unique when Tjara was the singer but the new stuff with Annette is very cool. But I didn't find out about the gig until a few days before it, and I was busy boxing stuff up in my house anyway.

Dystopia is the first Iced Earth album I've ever had. Long ago I downloaded Dante's Inferno (song) which I loved but I never got around to actually geting into the band haha!

Yeh! Loved Tarja's more operatic / classical approach! But thought they abandon it after wishmaster. Annette's pretty unique too, but now with Jensen they've up a notch! Perfect fit IMO.

In all honesty you're not missing much on iced earth then :p Don't get me wrong, they're still very good! But alot of 'recycled' materials in their catalogue. 'Something wicked this way comes' is a cracker though :)

Disappointed that the Hypocrisy gig was cancelled last minute, but hey there's still Opeth and Eluveitie to look forward to!

I didn't even know Annette had left, goddam. Shows how much I keep up with them hah!

And are Opeth coming to Aus again? I mean, I assumed they would I just didn't know when. I saw them the last 2 times they were here. First time (in around 2009 I think) was amazing. Second time was good but nothing special imo - mostly cause I'm not a fan of the latest album.

Floor jensen was flawless. Decided to see them once i heard she has taken over :)

Yeh its the same heritage tour in march. Not a big fan of that album too but it works for them live. Must have seen them about 10 times now when they used to do TWO melbourne shows at the corner hotel (2003 & 2004) and forum (2006) LOL at least they bother to play a different setlist each time.

10 times?! Wow, my friend will be jealous. He's a HUGE Opeth fan. And yeah the Heritage inspired live show was still pretty good. In particular the final song they played (no idea what it was) - Frederik played what I'm assuming is a more or less improv'd outro solo which was incredible.

Morbid Angel- back catalogue
About 3 weeks ago I got the urge to dust off the domination album and fuck me I've been hooked on these guys for weeks cruising up and down their catalogue. Just really brutal and catchy riffing
Not the biggest fan of their new one though it doesn't completely suck

Any thoughts or opinions on this great floridian death metal band??

David Linsk adds a lot of grunt to their music though his lead work can be silky smooth, they're not an underatted band but often overlooked I think.
