Did you do the customs paperwork yourself?

Interesting. Someone in the receiving end has to do it. They may have under declared it.

hmmm, ill be on the lookout for a letter from customs then.
One of the slips attached to the box mentioned it was an electric guitar, but i dont remember what the value was on it.

The silliest thing about all this tho is that if id brought it back on the plane with me instead of posting it, customs wouldnt even know that it came through, or do they question the hell out of people when they bring instruments through customs ?

Certainly, if they decide to they can ask you for proof you took it out with you originally if you claim you took it with you and are simply bringing it back. Or they can ask for proof of purchase if you say you bought it overseas.

I'll be sure and direct the people who are SUPPOSED to be giving me the pricing to the thread. Hopefully they will get a wriggle on. You may or may not have liked the pricing anyway, but it's good for them to know people are waiting FFS!

Might be true, but I am still prepared to pay a bit more if can buy it locally in Australia. Also I find it very interesting how price differs between japan and here between(!) different models. E.g the Edwards E-FR-130GT retails for 136,500yen (Include Tax) I got it for 2k$ to my housedoor, I guess it will be around 2300$ around in australia, (hopefully not much more, else the Forgest gt in standard series is to close). On the other Hand a LTD - 400 - fm retails for 144,900 yen (include Tax) and I got this for 1300$ in australia, ..... ?
So the cheaper model in Japan is nearly double the price of the more expensive one over here. I can understand how stuff is more expensive over here but the difference between these to models is quite extreme, ... . (Though I think the Edwards is better made then this LTD)

btw. Mine shipped also via ems, value was declared correctly on the package. I was told by custom, (I informed myself beforehand), that I'd receive a letter from custom once a package arrived here, then I have to fill the paperwork and pay the fees, then they'd release it. As said that never happened, it just came right through to me.

That is all true. I am only saying that maybe some customer officer do or might have to focus first one the shipments were the money is (e.g big shipments, high value, lots of items) and that might result in some private shipments that just slip trough ... rightly or wrongly.

Yeah, I hear you man.
LTDs are an oddball there. I think a lot of the time the LTDs are imported by stores themselves from the US and sold as a "US market" thing like it's a big deal. I see a bit of that on DigiMart etc. is, not an ESP dealer selling new LTDs brought in from the States.
